some misunderstanding

my first bud of flower for my first spring~
Not so long time ago, there is a friend who told me that he read al-Quran because he was curious about it. I respect him because although he is not a Muslim, but yet he tried to discover what is al-Quran and what is Islam. Such a shame for Muslims who don’t even care about their own religion (Islam), and yet in the same time they admit that they are Muslims. These kinds of people are “Muslims “only by their name, not by their actions.

So, back to my case, he mentioned to me about his favourite surah (chapter) – al-Kafirun (The Unbelievers), 109. He said that this surah had cleared up his mind that he will continue to obey his religion (other than Islam) and everyone may also obey any religion that they pleased to. I’m sorry to say, but his interpretation was wrong. On that moment, I can’t afford to explain him about the correct definition regarding this surah. But recently, Alhamdulillah I got the answer.

1) The event in this surah occurred in Mecca when there were people who had mixed up jahiliah (paganism) and Islam together.

2) The people began to put their belief, devotion and worship towards other than Allah the Almighty. The people did believe in AllahText Color, but at the same time they practice idolatrous (for example, towards their leader, their ancestors...)

3) Prophet Muhammad s.w.t ordered these people to leave their idolatrous acts towards these heretics and put their belief only, ONLY to Allah.

4) The people were hard to abandon what they had used to believe and worship. Therefore, they made an agreement with Prophet Muhammad saw. and demonstrate an idea, which is they will believe in Allah, follow all the sunnah and in return, the prophet must also worship their ancestors... (the idolatrous). They were trying to compromise Islam.

5) Prophet Muhammad s.w.t. against this agreement totally and assert firmly that Islam is the one and only religion of Allah. In Islam, there is no assimilation between Islam and other religion. And if there be any of these idolatrous or worship besides Allah the Almighty, then he is not a Muslim.

6) Thus, came this sentence from Allah: “Unto you your religion, and unto me my religion”

Say (O Prophet): O ye who reject faith! (1)
I worship not that which ye worship; (2)
Nor worship ye that which I worship. (3)
And I shall not worship that which ye worship. (4)
Nor will ye worship that which I worship. (5)
Unto you your religion, and unto me my religion. (6)

ok jer actually intrepetation of that friend of yours
x salah pon kalau die interprete mcm tu
tp lagi bagus kalo aimie bgtau la tujuan surah tu turun sebenarnye
n it is better if u can initiate ur friend to understand more islam
that's what we called da'wah with hikmah

Hi, I came across to your blog from msegi (http://www.mujahidahsegi.blogspot.com)
To my inadequate knowledge in theology ( I am an Atheist ), I find that your post is quite interesting. But, pardon me, from what I can see from the verse that you wrote, I think it clearly implies that (I put it in simple language) " I worship my God, and you worship your own God. Neither I will worship your God, nor you will worship my God". So, if that is the case, then there is not one and only true religion in the world anymore. Does it?

Hi teddy..just to clear things up
the history of how this verse is being given to Muhammad SAW is to make a border line that if u are a muslim so be a true muslim wholeheartedly not just in the morning a muslim but at night you can be in another religion
this shows how we should really understand muslim
i'm not talking about another religion but in muslim that is how we are taught.
if u say that there is not one true religion in this world
i can admit and i also denying that point
back then i also like to touch a little bit about the history
the Meccan on that time show devotion to their own religion
and from the history..that religion was actually came from Abraham AS which in al-Quran also stated that Abraham AS one of the prophet in islam, christian and also jew used to put His devotion to the god that Muhammad SAW put devote on
what can i say that as in islam, christianity and jew they are from the same root and also the one that old Meccan used to follow is devotion to Allah
the reason that why Allah sent Muhammad SAW to this world is to clear things up to human that He is the Creator of all Creation
correct me if i'm mistaken
before u start not to belive how if u start to find why others believe in god and from there u can find the reason why Muhammad SAW received this verse
Wallahualam

To Teddy, first of all, tq for viewing my blog. =)
If it’s not a problem to you, I think it is better if you would REREAD what I wrote (as I had highlighted what’s the main point that I wanted to tell) and please refer to what peacemaker commented. I think that he'd answered your question.
